Designed for a contemporary residence in Newcastle, this bespoke residential landscape transforms the lower garden into a private wellness retreat that seamlessly extends the home's architecture into the landscape. Created for relaxation, recovery and outdoor living, the space features a Japanese-inspired timber soak bath, outdoor sauna, warm hardwood seating and layered subtropical planting, delivering a refined sanctuary for everyday wellbeing.

Cascading greenery softens the existing stone retaining wall, while a vaulted timber-lined ceiling with concealed lighting creates a rich, spa-like atmosphere. Heliconia bihai 'Hot Rio Nights' and Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata' frame the sauna, with a raised timber boardwalk strengthening the connection between each wellness space.

Beyond the retreat, the landscape continues through layered planting, brick breezeway screening and a reimagined front courtyard that balances entertaining, relaxation and flexible everyday use.
