Native entertainer

Designed for a contemporary residence in Bar Beach, Newcastle, this bespoke residential landscape creates a seamless connection between architecture and outdoor living. Conceived as a social landscape for family, friends and pets, the rear garden features a curved concrete bench beneath the existing Paperbark Tree (Melaleuca quinquenervia), complemented by a layered understorey of native tree ferns (Cyathea species). The sculptural bench protects the tree's root system while naturally guiding movement through the garden, as warm-toned crazy paving reinforces the relaxed coastal character of the home.

Positioned to capture sunlight and maintain uninterrupted views, the pool strengthens the relationship between the home and landscape. A wet-edge water feature provides a calming backdrop, while the outdoor kitchen and connected entertaining spaces encourage effortless outdoor living. Together, these carefully considered elements create a timeless landscape that enhances everyday living while adding lasting value to the property.
